You are feeding a two-story wood or light-gauge job, placing masonry cubes close, or running a bucket for site work. This is the busiest rental class we have for a reason. Most “I might need 10k” calls still chart on an 8k once we hear the actual pallet weight.
Move to 10k / 56 ft when
Steel bundles, heavier HVAC units, three-story work, or standoff that eats the 44 ft chart. 54–56 ft of boom is how you set material on a roof from a street you cannot occupy. Capacity at reach still falls off — 10,000 lb is the class name, not a promise at full extension.
Site size and overhead
10k 56 ft machines need room to deploy and a delivery plan. Watch overhead lines on rural Utah jobs; longer booms find wires that 44 ft never reached. If the lot is tight, sometimes two 8k placements beat one 10k that cannot unfold.
