Sod is a grading-and-logistics job that ends with a knife and a hose. We do not list sod cutters or rollers-for-turf as a class. What we rent is the CTL that preps the dirt without destroying the neighbor’s lawn, the mini that fixes the swale, and the trailer that hauls pallets. If the grade is wrong, the sod advertises it in a week.

The dirt has to be right first
Strip, regrade, place topsoil, rake. A T550-class CTL is the prep machine. Compaction belongs under paths and against foundations, not as a polished hardpan under turf. You want firm, not concrete.
Pallets are heavy and impatient
Sod waits for no one in July along the Wasatch. An Airtow or dump trailer moves pallets; a CTL with forks can place them in the yard. Do not stack pallets on the driveway all afternoon in 95°F.
Irrigation belongs before sod, not after
If the heads are not in, trench first. See install irrigation. Cutting a new lawn to fix a lateral is a special kind of regret.

Do you rent sod cutters?
Not as a listed class. Ask the yard. Most customers are installing, not harvesting. Stripping old lawn is often a CTL and a dump trailer.
Should I compact before sod?
Firm the subgrade so it does not settle. Do not polish topsoil into a parking lot. Water should still infiltrate.
Summer install in Utah?
Early pallets, shade, water. The machine work should be done before the truck shows up. Heat kills sod faster than a slow crew.
