Equipment for Muddy and Soft Ground

Compact track loaders, RT scissors, mats, and what not to rent after a Utah storm. Flotation, delivery, and keeping wheeled machines off the lawn.

Spring mud along the Wasatch Front swallows wheeled skid steers, slab scissors, and delivery trucks. Tracks, RT aerials, and a firm unload point are the rental. If the pad is soup, the first machine you need might be gravel, not a bigger diesel.

Loaders

CTL (T550 / 249D3 class) instead of S550 wheels. You will still make ruts if you spin. Plan travel paths.

Aerials

RT scissors and rough-terrain booms, not electric slab machines. Soft ground plus a raised scissor is a tip-over story. Mats under outriggers and RT tires are cheaper than an incident.

Delivery

If the truck cannot leave the asphalt, we drop at the curb and you crawl in with the right machine — or we wait. See the delivery prep guide. Mud is a reason to reschedule, not a reason to get a truck stuck.

Earthmoving

Minis with decent tracks still sink. Timber mats and a plan beat a 5.5-ton buried to the house. Call (801) 880-8800 if it rained yesterday.

FAQ

Will 4x4 scissors handle mud?

Packed wet dirt, often. Standing water and ruts, no. If you would not walk it in work boots, do not drive a scissor on it elevated.

Can I put a slab scissor on plywood?

Plywood is not a magic mat. It can help a short crossing. It will not turn soup into a slab.

Tracks on a telehandler?

Our telehandlers are typically rubber-tired rough-terrain machines, not CTLs. Soft sites still need a plan.

Need a quote on the right class?

Call or text — we'll match height, width, and capacity to the job instead of renting you a bigger machine than you need.
