Framing is lumber that has to get off the truck and onto a wall. On a wide lot that is an 8,000 lb 42–44 ft telehandler. On a downtown infill lot it is the 5,500 lb 19 ft compact. On a single-story rambler with a friendly driveway it is still sometimes a crew and a conveyor. The expensive mistake is a 10k 56 ft machine sitting in a cul-de-sac because nobody measured the swing.

Most two-story Utah homes: 8k 44 ft telehandler for the framing week only. Tight lot: start with the 19 ft compact and tell us if the truss radius fails. Do not add a boom unless people actually have to work at a gable you cannot scaffold.
Material first, people second
Forks for packs and trusses. A telehandler bucket is for backfill and gravel, not for 2×6. If you need people at the top plate, that is a rated platform, a scaffold, or a boom — not standing on the forks.
Trusses are a chart problem
Set from the chart at the actual radius, not from the model name. A 44 ft 8k that is stuck in the street is a 10k 56 ft conversation. A house that already has a crane in the budget does not also need our biggest telehandler “for backup.”
Pad and HOA
Protect the driveway. Wasatch wind shuts picks down. A machine that will not fit the gate does not become smaller because the truss truck is already there. Call before the package ships.
FAQ
Can we set trusses with a telehandler?
Many crews do, within the chart and with tag lines. Some packages still want a crane. We will not talk you into a pick the chart does not like.
Forks or bucket?

How long do framers usually keep it?
Walls and trusses are often a few days to two weeks. Call (801) 880-8800 with the truss date so the machine is not sitting through layout.
