Fiber wants a narrow, consistent slot and a crew that will not pull a 90-pound chain across a live bundle. New laterals in friendly soil are a Barreto morning. Drops around a house, conduit sweeps, and anything near other utilities are an E35. We do not rent directional drills. If the spec is bore-under-the-driveway, hire that. If the spec is open cut, we can outfit it.

Only if spoils cannot stay as a windrow.
Skip it when the trencher windrow is going right back in.
BrowseTypical pairing
Open-cut lateral: Barreto for the slot + E35 for pits and the house drop + plate to restore. Boring under pavement is not this fleet — hire a drill, then we can still dig the pits.
The chain is fast until it is tragic
Unmarked fiber is everywhere in infill neighborhoods. 811, then hand-expose at crossings. A trencher does not “feel” a micro-duct. The mini at least lets you stop when the soil color changes.
Conduit vs direct bury
Conduit wants pits for sweeps and pull boxes — excavator. Direct bury of a drop might be a shallow trencher. Follow the ISP spec, not a landscaping habit.
Restore the surface
A plate on the cap so the HOA does not inherit a linear sink. Do not rammer a fiber drop into a wavy scar.
FAQ
Do you rent a vibratory plow?
Not as a listed class. Ask the yard. Most fiber drops here leave with a Barreto or an E35.
Can I use the skid-steer trencher?
On open ground, yes. In a backyard next to unmarked drops, the walk-behind or the mini is the grown-up choice.
HOA park strips?
Locates, then assume irrigation is lying to you. Mini at the crossings. Repair turf like you will see it every day — because you will.
