What Equipment Do I Need to Set a Hot Tub?

A hot tub is a pallet that is also a relationship test. Weight plus a side yard plus a fence the owner likes. The 5,500 lb 19 ft compact telehandler is the usual hero if you can get it back there. If you cannot, it is a crane hour or a lot of round tubes and optimism. A boom lift is not a spa setter. The pad still needs to be compacted before the truck shows up.

Typical pairing

Pad: plate (and maybe a mini if you still have to form). Set: 19 ft compact telehandler if it fits; 8k only if the chart and the street require it. Boom lifts stay in the yard.

Pad first

A level, compacted pad or a poured slab. Plate the base. Do not set a 4,000 lb spa on 2×4s over lawn and call us when it lists. See pour a patio if you are pouring.

The pick

Know the dry weight and the path. 19 ft compact if you can get close. 8k 44 ft if you are picking from the driveway over a fence — chart it. Spreader bars and slings are a rigging plan, not a vibe. We rent a spreader bar; you still need qualified rigging.
